An Open Letter to Kansas Republican Voters

Dear Kansas Republican:

In January of this year, I left my position as an Assistant U.S. Attorney to become Jerry Moran’s Campaign Manager, believing he could well become a reliable voice for freedom, free enterprise and limited government in the U.S. Senate. After more than two months of intense interactions with Jerry Moran, I came to believe that he was not instinctively conservative and that his willingness to actually lead against the tide of government intrusiveness into our lives and businesses was practically nonexistent.

Is the Kansas Legislature the Greedy King?
Last week, the Kansas House began its debate whether to raise the state’s sales tax from the 5.3 percent to 6.3 percent. The proposed increase is to cover about $400 million in new state spending in Fiscal Year 2011 budget that begins July 1st.

House Bill 2633..Nudity or a state of nudity

You can read the entire bill here, but we thought you’d like to know some of what Legislators sit around and think of all day when they’re not working on the budget – which, seemingly, is the vast majority of the time.

This bill has now passed the House and is on its way to the Kansas Senate. Now that they have taken care of naming the State Grass, they’ll be able to give this bill all the consideration it deserves (which would be “none”).
