This all sounds good who wouldn’t want faster downloads? However, I have a question maybe one of you can answer. Exactly where is Google going to lay all this fiber? Are they going to replace the current internet backbone (that is really big project that involves all the internet), if not it won’t matter how fast local bandwidth is because the main backbone will be a bottleneck? If the backbone is fast enough to handle the new Google speed, will the increased speed increase the load on existing lines and then overload the backbone? If you get by all that, and Topeka has really fast access via Google new fiber, then will current infrastructure to our houses really make use of the new speed available or will it need replaced?
I want faster, but I just don’t believe a single entity can increase speed in a local area and boom- you have that speed world wide.
